If your business uses Facebook Live to connect with customers, showcase events, or share behind-the-scenes content, there’s an important update you need to be aware of.

Facebook Is Now Deleting Live Videos After 30 Days

As of February 19, 2025, Facebook now automatically deletes Live videos 30 days after they air—unless you manually download them. If you want to hold onto any recent or upcoming Live content, now’s the time to take action.

In addition to this new policy, Facebook is also starting to remove previously recorded Live videos that are more than 30 days old. These older videos will be deleted in phases, but you’ll receive a 90-day notice beforehand—giving you time to download anything you want to keep.

Why This Matters

Facebook Live videos often capture meaningful content—like community events, product launches, tutorials, or Q&As. They can continue to deliver value long after the live moment is over, especially when repurposed for marketing or social media.

Letting these videos disappear could mean losing valuable assets that you’ve worked hard to create.

How to Save Your Live Videos

To prevent your Live content from being lost, take a few minutes to download anything you’d like to keep. Here’s how:

Option 1: From Your Activity Log

  1. Go to Settings & Privacy > Activity Log

  2. Filter by Your Live Videos

  3. Find the video(s) you want to save

  4. Click the three-dot menu next to the video

  5. Select Download Video

Option 2: From Your Profile or Page

  1. Visit the Videos or Live tab

  2. Select the video you want to save

  3. Open it in fullscreen

  4. Click the three-dot menu

  5. Choose Download Video

What to Do With Saved Videos

Once you’ve downloaded your content, here are a few ideas to keep it working for you:

  • Re-upload to YouTube – If you have a YouTube channel (or want to start one), uploading your Live videos there is a great way to build your video library, reach new audiences, and boost SEO.

  • Convert to a Reel – Trim your video into a short highlight reel (up to 90 seconds) to share on Facebook or Instagram.

  • Share on Your Website or Email Newsletter – Embed valuable video content into your site or email campaigns to give it more visibility.

  • Archive for Future Use – Even if you don’t use it right away, saving videos gives you the flexibility to repurpose content later.

Don’t Forget: You Can Postpone Deletion

If you receive a notice about a Live video being deleted, you can request a one-time six-month extension. Just open the notification, tap Learn More, and choose Postpone.
