As the temperatures drop and the evenings get longer, there’s something especially inviting about a cozy night at home. La Grange Business Association member The Sister Project is helping make those moments a little more special with a collection of locally made candles designed to bring warmth, comfort, and a little relaxation to everyday life.
Founded by sisters Lauren Massarella and Michelle Anderson, The Sister Project is known for its Cozy Conversations podcast, where the duo shares stories, humor, and a refreshing perspective on slowing down and enjoying life’s simpler pleasures.
That same philosophy extends to their candle collection, featuring six distinctive fragrances for every mood and season.
For those who love the familiar aromas of autumn, Harvest combines apple, pumpkin, and cinnamon for a classic fall fragrance. Hygge brings the outdoors inside with notes of Frasier fir, palo santo, and moss, while In The Woods offers an earthy blend of sandalwood and oud smoke.
Looking for something more relaxing? Slow Down pairs lavender and vanilla for a soothing atmosphere. Fresh combines lemon, gardenia, and lilac for a lighter fragrance, while Soleil offers a tropical escape with coconut, mango, and orange blossom.
The candles are hand-poured in small batches in Downers Grove using a blend of soy and coconut wax. Each features a wooden wick, a reusable vessel, and a burn time of more than 45 hours.
Priced at $50 each, the candles also make thoughtful gifts as the holiday season approaches.
For Lauren and Michelle, the collection is about more than fragrance. It’s an extension of their belief that taking time to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the little things should be part of everyday life.
Whether you’re settling in with a good book, entertaining friends, or simply enjoying a quiet evening, The Sister Project offers a reminder that sometimes the best plans involve staying home.
