Gary Sinise to Appear as Special Guest at the 2026 Goombay Bash in La Grange

A major Chicago fundraising event with strong La Grange roots is set to return this summer — with a Hollywood icon taking center stage.

The 24th Annual Goombay Bash, hosted by the La Grange-based H Foundation to support basic science cancer research at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. This year, organizers have announced acclaimed actor, humanitarian, and Chicago native Gary Sinise as the event’s Celebrity Guest of Honor.

Best known for memorable roles in Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, and The Green Mile, along with television audiences recognizing him from CSI: NY, Sinise has also built a national reputation for his humanitarian work supporting veterans, first responders, and families facing adversity.

According to event organizers, Sinise will share reflections from his life and career during a one-night-only appearance at the Goombay Bash. Attendees will also receive a copy of his upcoming book, Graceful Warrior, a deeply personal work honoring his late son, Mac Sinise, who passed away after battling a rare form of cancer. The book explores grief, resilience, and the healing journey of family through unimaginable loss.

While the event takes place in Chicago, the mission behind it has strong local ties. Founded in La Grange, The H Foundation has spent more than two decades raising funds for basic science cancer research at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. By supporting foundational cancer research, the organization aims to fuel discoveries that may ultimately impact many forms of cancer, rather than focusing on just one type.

Often regarded as one of Chicagoland’s premier charitable summer events, the Goombay Bash combines entertainment, philanthropy, and community support into an evening that attracts hundreds of attendees from across the region.

Tickets are currently available, with general admission at $195 and VIP tickets at $350, which include premium seating and concierge service. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses interested in supporting cancer research while gaining visibility among attendees.
