Event Operations Intern – Description

The La Grange Business Association (LGBA) is seeking a reliable and motivated Events Intern to support a full summer of community programming in downtown La Grange. This position offers hands-on experience in event planning, coordination, and on-site execution, working closely with local businesses, volunteers, and event partners. This is a practical, operations-focused role designed for individuals interested in events, marketing, or community engagement.

Position Overview

The Events Intern will assist with the planning and execution of LGBA events, including the weekly Farmers Market and other seasonal initiatives. The role combines in-office coordination with on-site event support and requires strong organization, communication, and dependability. The position reports to the Member Relations and Events Associate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with event planning and coordination across LGBA programs
  • Support sponsorship efforts through research, tracking, and follow-up
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and coordination
  • Help prepare event materials, timelines, and logistics
  • Provide on-site event support, including setup, vendor assistance, and general operations
  • Assist with post-event organization and follow-up

Schedule & Commitment

  • Duration: Late May through early August (aligned with collegiate summer schedules)
  • Weekly Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week

Shift Structure:

  • Thursdays, 6:00 AM – 11:00 AM (Farmers Market – required)
  • One additional 5-hour weekday shift (Monday–Wednesday, flexible, in-office)

Additional Required Dates:

  • Availability is required for LGBA Carnival: May 29–31, 2026 (evenings and weekend hours)

Compensation

  • $1,500 stipend upon successful completion of the internship
  • Additional hourly compensation ($15/hour) is provided for required Carnival shifts (May 29–31, 2026)

Ideal Candidate

  • Interest in event planning, marketing, business, or community-focused work
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable communicating with businesses, volunteers, and event participants
  • Willingness to work early mornings and outdoors in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable and able to follow through on assigned responsibilities
