Member Spotlight: Hinsdale Humane Society

Since 1953, Hinsdale Humane Society (HHS) has been a compassionate force in our community, saving the lives of animals in need and supporting the people who love them. A private nonprofit organization, HHS operates the Tuthill Family Pet Rescue & Resource Center and is more than just an adoption shelter—they are a holistic hub for animal welfare and education. From low-cost vaccination clinics and pet therapy programs to post-adoption support and pet pantries, HHS offers services that extend well beyond their shelter doors.

Director of Development Erin Palumbo brings over a decade of experience in animal welfare to her role and is passionate about building relationships that help fuel HHS’s mission. “I’ve done everything from volunteering to running my own dog rescue,” she shares. “Now, I get to raise funds to continue this lifesaving work.”

The HHS team is as outgoing as they are dedicated (they proudly describe themselves as “wildly extroverted”) and are deeply rooted in the La Grange area thanks to the vision of the women who founded the organization over 70 years ago. Today, HHS continues to engage the community through events like the Pet Parade, Farmers Market, Spring Stroll, and local adoption pop-ups.
