La Grange-area restaurants and food businesses have an opportunity to strengthen food-safety knowledge and support their teams at no cost through a free ServSafe Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification class offered by the Illinois Restaurant Association in partnership with the Berwyn Development Corporation.
Supported by the Cook County Small Business Source, the initiative is designed to assist restaurants and employees throughout Cook County by providing access to important food-safety training and certification.
The in-person training will take place on Monday, August 24. Registration is required, and participation is limited to two attendees per business.
To be eligible for certification, attendees must:
- Be associated with a business operating in Suburban Cook County
- Live or work within Cook County
- Bring a valid photo ID on the date of the test
- Complete all required hours of training
- Earn a minimum passing grade of 70% on the exam
Chicago-based businesses are not eligible to register employees for this course.
Course materials, including an exam booklet, question sheet and writing tools, will be provided to participants upon arrival.
For local restaurants and food businesses, the free program provides an opportunity to invest in employee development and reinforce food-safety practices without adding training costs. Space is limited, so eligible businesses are encouraged to register soon.
