Western Suburb decks the halls with festive activities and local shopping, dining and
memorable experiences for the entire family

LA GRANGE, IL – October 23, 2024 – It’s that time of year again! The Village of La Grange and the La Grange Business Association are welcoming in the holiday season with exciting promotions at local shops and restaurants and festive traditions, both new and old.

Beginning on Small Business Saturday, La Grange will promote shopping small at local businesses and help visitors create holiday memories with local carolers, Santa’s arrival by firetruck, a tree lighting ceremony, specialty holiday cocktails, and other holiday surprises throughout December.

“Hometown Holidays really encapsulates what makes La Grange so special – a vibrant community that celebrates the joy of the season,” said Village President, Mark Kuchler. “We invite our neighbors to stop by La Grange this holiday season, whether they are shopping for unique gifts from our local retailers, dining at our delicious restaurants, or just out and about during our annual Holiday Walk. We hope La Grange’s Hometown Holidays provides an opportunity for everyone to slow down and delight in special holiday moments.”

Small Business Saturday Flash Sale — November 30, 10am – 3pm
For customers looking for great deals, La Grange businesses will be holding a Flash Sale
sponsored by with special offers and deep discounts for a limited time. Flash sale offers will be
announced throughout the day on an all new La Grange Business Association Holiday website
which can be found here. Small Business Saturday and the Flash Sale is sponsored by JAYNE.

La Grange Holiday Walk — Saturday December 7, 4pm – 9pm
A beloved tradition returns to La Grange with the arrival of Santa by firetruck to the historic La
Grange Village Hall to light the majestic tree donated by a local family. Holiday choirs and
themed characters are part of the magic along with a petting zoo and pony rides, kiddie train
rides, perfect picture moments by Village Hall, oversized light displays, glistening ice sculptures,
and letters to Santa in the Stone Avenue train station. Open houses at local businesses round
out the celebration as trolleys transport visitors to all the festivities.

Shopper Express Trolley Expansion — Saturday December 7, 11am – 4pm
New this year — A trolley, beginning at 11 a.m. through 4 p.m. will loop through the Central
Business District to the West End of La Grange. The Trolley will stop in key locations for
shopping.


New in 2024, the Shopper Express Trolley will be adding service between 11am and 4pm for visitors to navigate the downtown area.  This is in addition to its already-existing evening service on December 7.

‘Twelve Days of Holiday Joy’ Promotion – Starting December 1
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting small retail shops throughout downtown La Grange and the
West End, giving a sneak peek into special holiday deals at area retailers. Holiday retailer profile
videos will be posted for twelve consecutive days starting December 1st. Follow the LGBA on
social media or visit https://lgba.com/hometown-holidays/ to see where Santa and Mrs. Claus
turn up each day.

Ho-Ho Holiday Cocktails – Starting November 30
From eggnog to toddies, local restaurants serve up classic, festive cocktails to put you in the
spirit of the season Holiday Cocktails throughout Small Business Saturday through December.

Holiday “JOY” Selfie Photos Outside Village Hall – Starting November 27
Get in the spirit of the season with photos and selfies behind Village Hall’s water fountain
surrounded by an illuminated life size towering “JOY” sign.

La Grange Historical Society Vial House Holiday
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the historic Vial House, the La Grange Historical Society
welcomes guests throughout the holiday season, from a Holiday Open House on December 8 to a Sips & Sweets Holiday Home Tour on December 15.

“This year’s Hometown Holidays really blends the old with the new. It’s the perfect mixture of cherished local traditions like Santa’s arrival by fire truck to Village Hall and exciting new shopping experiences like our 12 Days of Holiday Joy, bringing together the best of both worlds for our community,“ said Stephanie Posey, LGBA Board President. “This is an exciting time of year for La Grange and we are looking forward to another holiday season of supporting our local businesses.”
