May 8 & 9 | La Grange Area Historical Society
What if you could experience La Grange’s history—not just read about it—but actually walk through it?
On May 8 and 9, the La Grange Area Historical Society invites the community to do exactly that with “An Evening Through Time,” a special exhibit grand opening event that blends history, storytelling, and a night out into one immersive experience.
A Walk Through Decades of La Grange
At the center of the evening is the Society’s newest exhibit, A Walk Through Time, which brings the evolution of the La Grange area to life from the 1890s through the 1970s.

Guests will move from decade to decade, exploring how everyday life, fashion, and culture changed over time—through real artifacts, stories, and carefully curated displays. From Victorian-era elegance to the bold styles of the 1970s, it’s a visual and experiential journey through the moments that shaped the community.
This isn’t a static museum visit—it’s designed as a flowing, interactive evening where each step reveals a new era.
Sip the Past: Prohibition-Era Cocktails
And yes—there’s a social element.
Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy era-inspired cocktails, desserts, and savory bites, adding another layer to the immersive experience.

You may have noticed the teaser: one featured cocktail from the 1920s will be served. It’s a fun nod to the Prohibition era—where creativity (and a little mystery) defined the drinking culture. Whether it ends up being a Bee’s Knees, a French 75, or another classic, it adds a small “reveal” moment to the night.
More Than an Event — It’s an Experience
“An Evening Through Time” isn’t just about looking back—it’s about connecting with the story of La Grange in a way that feels personal and alive.
Expect:
- Live atmosphere with music and storytelling
- A curated journey through multiple decades
- Food and drink inspired by the eras
- A chance to experience local history in a completely new format
The event reflects the Historical Society’s broader mission: preserving the past while making it meaningful and accessible for today’s community.
