Supporters of The H Foundation have a new way to show their Goombay spirit this season. The organization’s Goombay Bash license plates are valid Illinois license plates that can be registered to your vehicle, driver’s license, and I-PASS, giving supporters a visible way to take part in this year’s fundraising efforts. The custom 2026 plates will be valid from May 27 through July 25, 2026, and this year’s design features a white background with purple and green lettering for the Goombay logo, with the remaining letters and numbers in black.
Hosted by The H Foundation, Goombay Bash is a signature fundraiser created to support the fight against cancer. On its website, the organization says Goombay Bash began in 2001 and has grown into one of Chicago’s major cancer research fundraising events. The H Foundation notes that it has raised more than $15 million since 2001, with funds supporting basic science cancer research at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.
For anyone interested in ordering a plate, the process is straightforward. First, contact Sue Nesbitt at sue.nesbitt@hfoundation.org
to confirm availability. Once availability is confirmed, you’ll need to send a copy of your valid Illinois driver’s license along with the current registration for the vehicle receiving the plate. The cost is $35, and all orders must be placed by March 26, 2026. After your order is confirmed, payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card through the Goombay Bash purchase page.
There are a few important details to keep in mind before ordering. Vehicles must be registered in the State of Illinois, and if your current registration expires in May, June, or July, you’ll need to renew early in order to qualify for Goombay plates.
