Klun brings more than three decades of business ownership experience to the company. A Licensed Illinois Home Inspector, IEMA Radon Measurement Professional, ASHI member, NIC ASHI board member, InterNACHI member, and CCPIA-certified commercial inspector, he also serves as an adjunct professor teaching home inspection at Triton College. In addition, his experience as a licensed insurance broker provides a unique perspective on helping property owners understand both the condition of their property and the importance of proper coverage.

One of the company’s fastest-growing areas is radon testing. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers and is particularly relevant in the western suburbs, which are considered among the higher-risk areas for elevated radon levels in Illinois.
Checkpoint makes testing simple and affordable, providing results within 48 hours and helping homeowners understand whether additional action is needed to protect their families.
For Klun, the work is about more than inspections and reports. It’s about identifying issues that could impact safety, finances, or peace of mind before they become larger problems.
Deep Roots in the Community
Checkpoint Inspections is based in La Grange Park, where Klun has lived and worked for more than 21 years. His familiarity with local neighborhoods, housing stock, and common property concerns allows him to bring valuable insight to every inspection.
As a longtime member of the La Grange Business Association, Klun values the connections and visibility the organization provides. Coffee & Conversations is among his favorite LGBA programs, and he credits the association with helping him stay connected to the local business community while building awareness for both Checkpoint Inspections and Checkpoint Radon Testing.
His commitment to the community extends beyond networking. Through every inspection and radon test, Klun sees an opportunity to educate homeowners and help make local homes safer for families throughout the area.
Looking Ahead
Looking to the future, Klun’s goal is to establish Checkpoint as the go-to resource in the western suburbs for home safety and environmental testing services. The company is continuing to expand its focus on radon testing while planning future growth in mold, air quality, and environmental testing services for both residential and commercial clients.
When he’s not inspecting properties, Klun enjoys cooking, collecting bourbon, traveling, and spending time exploring new destinations.
