Cleaning out your closet can do more than create a little extra space at home—it can also help support sustainability efforts in our community.
On Sunday, March 15, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Go Green Greater La Grange will host a Clothing and Textile Take-Back Event in the parking lot of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church (500 E. 31st Street, La Grange Park). The event invites residents to bring unwanted clothing and household textiles so they can be responsibly collected and diverted from the waste stream.
The initiative is part of Go Green Greater La Grange’s ongoing work to encourage residents to reduce, reuse, recycle, and rethink how everyday items are used and disposed of.
How the Take-Back Event Works
Participating in the event is simple:
Collect
Start by gathering unwanted textiles from around your home. Accepted items include clothing, bras, towels, and linens. Items do not need to be in perfect condition.
Sort
Before bringing your items, organizers recommend separating clothing from towels and linens. If possible, separate damaged or stained clothing as well as bras, children’s clothing, and adult clothing.
Share
Bring your items to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church on Sunday, March 15 between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. In addition to dropping off textiles, attendees can also learn more about local organizations working to promote sustainable practices in the community.
