Co-op with Closest Closet: A New Shared Space for Small Businesses

For the past three years, Closest Closet has been a unique fixture in La Grange—offering secondhand clothing and accessories while providing a platform for local artisans and small business owners to showcase their goods.

Now, founder Danielle Osborne and her team are exploring an exciting new chapter: securing a larger space that would allow Closest Closet to operate as a co-op.

The vision? A shared retail environment where multiple small businesses can sell their products under one roof while splitting the costs of rent, utilities, and other expenses. This cooperative model not only makes running a brick-and-mortar store more affordable, but it also fosters a sense of community and collaboration among local entrepreneurs.

“Closest Closet has always been about more than just fashion,” says Osborne. “It’s about creating opportunities for small businesses to thrive together.”

The store already houses goods from a handful of local businesses, but with a bigger space, the possibilities could grow significantly—opening doors for more artisans, makers, and entrepreneurs to reach customers in person.

Small business owners who are interested in learning more about this opportunity can contact Danielle directly at danielle@closestcloset.com.
