Brain Health Matters: A Community Conversation for Parents, Teens, and Adults

Our brains shape how we think, learn, remember, and connect with others — yet brain health is often something we don’t think about until problems arise. A new upcoming event aims to change that by helping families and community members better understand how everyday choices and early awareness can support lifelong cognitive health.

On Thursday, April 16, the organization OptWell will host “Brain Health Matters: What Parents, Teens, and Adults Need to Know” at The Community House in Hinsdale. The free educational event will bring together experts, resources, and practical insights to help people of all ages better understand how to protect and strengthen brain health.

An Evening Focused on Brain Health

The event will take place from 6:30–8:00 PM at The Community House (415 W. Eighth Street, Hinsdale), with resource tables open both before and after the presentation so attendees can connect with organizations and learn about additional services and support.

Participants will learn about several important topics, including:

  • The importance of brain health and how lifestyle habits can reduce long-term risk

  • Nutrition strategies based on the MIND Diet, developed to support cognitive health

  • Early interventions and biomarkers related to Alzheimer’s disease

  • New insights from the U.S. POINTER study, a major research effort examining how lifestyle changes can impact brain health

The program is designed to be accessible and informative for parents, teens, adults, and caregivers, helping people understand what steps can be taken today to support brain health throughout life.
