In the heart of La Grange, where community and character matter just as much as competition, the LG Celtics Soccer Club has built something special. Since 2008, this youth soccer organization has been inspiring kids — from toddlers to teens — to grow not just as athletes, but as people.
“We’re a community-centered club with a global mindset,” says Emma Thompson, Head of Media & Marketing. “Our coaches bring world-class credentials from the U.S., Europe, and beyond — but our foundation is local. We care deeply about each player’s long-term development, both on and off the pitch.”
Built for the Long Game
The LG Celtics offer soccer programming for ages 2 to 18, blending professional coaching with an approachable, neighborhood-club vibe. From beginner-level rec programs to elite travel teams, their focus is on creating a positive environment where players can build confidence, skills, and resilience at their own pace.
While “Celtics” pays homage to the rich football traditions of Celtic culture, the “LG” is proudly rooted in La Grange. That local pride is woven into every game, training session, and community event the club takes part in.
A Mission That Moves
The club was founded out of a desire to do things differently. “Too often, youth soccer is about early pressure and pay-to-play systems,” says Thompson. “We wanted to give families an option that values development, joy, and character just as much as wins.”
And it shows — whether it’s a 5-year-old scoring their first goal or a teen mentoring younger players, Celtics believes in the power of small moments to make a big impact.
More Than Soccer
Celtics coaches hail from six different countries and speak more than seven languages — but as Emma jokes, “They can all shout ‘Referee!!’ in perfect unison.” Whether it’s leading players on an international trip to England, juggling for 1,000+ touches, or kicking oversized soccer balls in the La Grange Pet Parade, the club culture is as spirited as it is skilled.
Beyond the field, Celtics is deeply committed to La Grange. You’ll find their teams marching in local parades, coaches volunteering at tournaments, and the club donating programs to school fundraisers. “Giving back is part of our DNA,” says Thompson.
Kicking Off Summer
Right now, LG Celtics is enrolling players for their Summer Soccer Camps — open to kids of all ages and experience levels. Run by USSF and UEFA-certified coaches, the camps blend structured skill development with fun, small-sided games. Whether your child is new to soccer or chasing a competitive edge, there’s a place for them at Celtics.
The club also invites the community to support its Celtics SoccerShip Fund, which ensures that no child is turned away due to financial hardship. Donations to the fund directly support player participation and can be made here: lgcelticsdonate.square.site
Looking Ahead
What’s next for the LG Celtics? Expansion. The club is growing its programming for girls, enriching its international travel experiences, and strengthening its signature FIRST XI initiative. Off the pitch, they’re building deeper partnerships with local schools and organizations to support youth both in and beyond the sport.
“We want Celtics to be a hub — not just for soccer, but for community and opportunity,” says Thompson. “Rooted in La Grange, with eyes on the world.”
