LATTE Theater is bringing a beloved American classic to the stage this spring with a heartfelt, fresh take on Neil Simon’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play, Lost in Yonkers. Performances will run from May 1 through May 4, 2025, at the Plymouth Place Auditorium in La Grange Park.
Set in the summer of 1942, the story follows teenage brothers Jay and Arty, who are sent to live with their strict grandmother after their father’s finances take a hit. What unfolds is a poignant and often humorous tale about family, resilience, and growing up under difficult circumstances. Audiences can expect Simon’s signature blend of sharp wit and emotional depth in this coming-of-age story.
This LATTE production features a talented local cast: Isidora Kowalchuk as Arty, Jodie Velez as Jay, Jamie Velez as Bella, Isla Baker as Grandma Kurnitz, Tomas Kowalchuk as Eddie, Jimmy Knapp as Louie, and Ashley Bell as Aunt Gert. Under the direction of LATTE founder Felicia Pfluger, the ensemble brings new life to Simon’s characters, capturing both the emotional complexity and comedic brilliance of the script.
Tickets are just $5 to $15 and available now at lattetheater.com/tickets. Seating is general admission, and the show runs approximately two hours with a 10-minute intermission.
Don’t miss this powerful performance by one of La Grange’s creative gems. It’s a perfect way to experience live theater while supporting local talent.
