Experience an Evening of Jazz and Live Music with Matt Shevitz in La Grange

Looking for a relaxing night filled with exceptional live music right here in La Grange? The Community Concert Series at First Presbyterian Church of La Grange continues this month with a performance by acclaimed saxophonist and clarinetist Matt Shevitz.

The free concert takes place Tuesday, May 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the church’s sanctuary, located at 150 S. Ashland Avenue in downtown La Grange. The concert series has become a local favorite for music lovers looking to enjoy high-quality performances in an intimate setting with outstanding acoustics.

Matt Shevitz is well known throughout Chicago’s jazz, blues, and popular music scenes. Over the course of his career, he has performed alongside internationally recognized musicians including Dick Hyman, Howard Levy, Byron Stripling, Frank Wess, and Ignacio Berroa. His performances have taken him to major venues and festivals including the Chicago Jazz Festival, Chicago Blues Festival, Lollapalooza, the Jazz Showcase, and the House of Blues Chicago.

In addition to performing, Shevitz is an accomplished educator and writer. He currently serves on the faculty at the College of DuPage, where he teaches music courses, directs jazz ensembles, and co-chairs the Music Department. He has also contributed articles to DownBeat Magazine covering jazz theory, transcription analysis, and effective practice techniques.
