To help ensure a safe and successful Farmers Market for everyone, all vendors are required to carry appropriate insurance coverage. This protects vendors, customers, the La Grange Business Association (LGBA), and the Village of La Grange in the event of an accident, injury, or property damage.
The La Grange Farmers Market is a public event held on Village property and coordinated by LGBA in partnership with the Village of La Grange. Each vendor operates independently and is responsible for their own booth, products, equipment, and activities.
Insurance is required to:
Protect vendors in the event of a claim or lawsuit
Ensure medical or property claims can be addressed appropriately
Reduce risk for the public attending the market
Meet the Village of La Grange’s risk management requirements
Allow the Farmers Market to operate safely throughout the season
Requiring insurance is standard practice for farmers markets and community events throughout the region.
Vendors must name both of the following as Additional Insureds on their General Liability policy:
The Village of La Grange, including its elected and appointed officials, employees, and agents
The La Grange Business Association (LGBA), including its officers, directors, employees, agents, and volunteers
Being named as an Additional Insured does not transfer ownership of your policy or reduce your coverage. It ensures that if a claim arises from a vendor’s operations at the Farmers Market, the appropriate parties are covered under the same policy.
All vendors must provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) meeting the following minimum requirements:
$1,000,000 per occurrence
$2,000,000 aggregate
Coverage must:
Be in effect for the full Farmers Market season, including setup and teardown
Apply to vendor operations at the La Grange Farmers Market
A Waiver of Subrogation is required in favor of:
The Village of La Grange
The La Grange Business Association
The Certificate Holder may be listed as:
La Grange Business Association
The Certificate Holder field is for notification purposes only. Coverage is provided through the Additional Insured and Waiver of Subrogation endorsements.
A compliant Certificate of Insurance is required as part of the application.
Certificates must reflect the required coverage, limits, and wording
LGBA reserves the right to request policy endorsements if needed
A sample insurance template is provided below to assist vendors and insurance agents with the correct formatting and language.
