SUMMARY:Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding Event
DESCRIPTION:The First Presbyterian Church of La Grange (FPCLG) will host a free Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding Event on Saturday\, September 19\, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in their parking lot at 150 S. Ashland Avenue\, La Grange\, IL. \nThis event provides area citizens an opportunity to properly dispose of electronic waste that is banned from landfills\, and securely shred documents. \nThe event will be managed by the Cook County Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM). FPCLG is partnering with the La Grange Rotary Club and Community Assisted Rides (CARS) to support this event. \nGreg Beglen who serves on the Earth Care Committee at First Presbyterian Church of La Grange commented\, “This event aligns with our focus on environmental care. Electronic products contain toxic metals such as lead\, mercury\, and arsenic\, which is why they are banned from landfills by Illinois law. Recycling paper is important because it saves trees and reduces landfill emissions of methane\, a potent greenhouse gas.”  \nItems Accepted: \nElectronics and small appliances: \n·       Anything with a plug or battery that can fit in the trunk of a car\, such as: Televisions\, computers\, computer accessories\, gaming devices\, mobile devices\, printers\, air conditioners\, microwaves\, small kitchen appliances\, etc. (no large appliances). \n·       CHaRM disposes of these items sustainably through certified recycling partners. \nPaper shredding: \n·       Household documents only\, limit of 2 bags per car. \n·       Staples and plastic covers are okay\, but no binder clips. \n·       On-site document destruction ensures your confidential materials are shredded securely. \n·      All shredded paper is recycled. \nCars should enter the church parking lot on Ashland Avenue and exit onto Catherine Avenue. \nArea seniors can contact Community Assisted Rides at 708-354-9328 by Friday\, September 11\, to register for a pick-up on the day of the event.
